Kelly Spiers is a South Australian ceramicist who makes functional but celebratory tableware with the belief that things made by hand, with care and love, can create a sense of connection and elevate the rituals of eating, drinking and sharing. She is always experimenting, developing ideas and techniques on the wheel and in firing. Mixing her own glazes, she explores every part of the process, finding that with control comes freedom.
She follows sustainable practices where possible; recycling, reusing and sharing. Backed by an honours degree in Fine Arts from the National Art School, she has found a unique and refined point of view with an emphasis on handmade. Throwing lines, the stroke of a brush, always in high fired stoneware or porcelain. Kelly enjoys making, is driven by it and that joy shows in her work.
