Kate Hunter Designs are whimsical stories told in handcrafted jewellery, objects and spiritual tools to beautify everyday life with a mindful ethos of consideration for the environment.
Kate’s work is inspirited with imaginative narratives sprouting from journal scribbles, poetry, ceremony and ritual, seeing horses in the clouds, enunciating for the often overlooked.
Kate draws on a broad skill base, mixing metalsmithing with ceramics, fibres, textiles, paper, up-cycling found materials, interspersed with her fascination for embroidery, book binding, weaving and lost wax casting.
Her products range from jewellery and objects, vessels and flatware, little ceramic ‘one-day’ vases, embroidered alter cloths, sistrums and rattles.
She is an intuitive maker who celebrates the perfectly imperfect marks left by the hand crafting and recycling processes.
“I enjoy the methodic process of making by hand, delighting in a piece being born from the materials through my finger tips.” Kate.
