Irina Nazarova is an artist producing works from Adelaide. Her visual art, with reproductions as prints and gift cards, and jewellery with preserved flora, are a response to the plethora of beauty existent in our gardens and natural environment. The depictions range from the botanical, to the imaginary, with hieroglyphic and iconic motifs. There is a feeling of folk tapestry to the artworks painted on timber.
Irina has explored natural, urban environments, and abandoned plots of land, searching for floral specimens. This exploration guides and inspires the creative process driven by a fascination for the complexity and striking colours of indigenous flora.
Possessing exquisite composition and imagination, a thread weaves between the paintings and the jewellery of preserved flowers, branded as "Flowers In Your Hair". Each jewellery piece is as if a miniature painting, with careful arrangement and colour, as expositioned in the original paintings.
